About me
Hello. My name is Magda and I am a sewing addict.
My earliest sewing-related memories are crawling on the floor with this giant horseshoe-shaped magnet that was my great-grandmother’s, picking up pins. My great-grandmother was a seamstress and although she died when I was very little, I must have got my love of dressmaking (and a penchant for bows and polkadots, I’m told) from her.
I started sewing when I was about 16 and went straight for a satin wrap dress from Burda. Needless to say it didn’t really turn out great, but it was a dress and I was proud of it all the same. It took a while before I made something wearable though. I love being able to turn my wardrobe dreams into reality. You can read some more about my sewing journey and some sewing trivia in my Seamstress Tag.
Although I would love to sew night and day, I occasionally do other things. Besides my day job, I’m doing a PhD in historical linguistics focusing on Australian English. I love losing myself in other people’s stories through books, movies and series. When we’re not amidst a global pandemic, I love exploring my country as well as the world, and spending time with my friends. Half my heart will always belong to Australia, where I’ve spent some time during high school and uni. I couldn’t live without black tea – lots and lots of it.
So grab a cuppa yourself and have a browse of my blogposts about my makes, and hacks, and occasionally a bit of knitting, since lockdown inspired me to pick up some pretty yarn and knitting needles.
